The main event of the first ENDOURO Fight Series showcased a matchup between coach and student. Duke, a long time Judo blackbelt and Australian Judo representative now fighting under UFC coach Dan Kelly from Resilience Training Centre in Melbourne squared off against his former student Dj ‘ Warmonger’ Taumoepeau 3W-4L fighting out of (ENDOURO Fight Series major sponsor) Stockade Training Centre in Canberra. After going 7W 1L at Light Heavyweight (93kgs) this was Duke’s first fight at Heavyweight (93kgs-120kgs) The pair had not been training partners for over 2 years and Dj (who cuts weight to make the heavyweight limit) being the naturally bigger man had been training constantly over that period whilst Duke was coming off several significant injures and multiple surgeries.
